Pote's Notes - Jan/Feb 2015

Dave Brady Sr., Potentate

I would like to thank you for your vote of confidence in electing me to office of Potentate for 2015. It is an honor and I will continue to do everything I can to represent you for the good of Nile and Shriners Hospital for Children.

Looking forward we will have great things for you to get involved with: Alaska Cruise for two: Only 100 tickets will be sold and there will only be one winner. The tickets are $100 per ticket, and the drawing will be held on Saturday May 16th, 2015 at the Ladies Luncheon held at Nile. Odds are 100 to 1, so don’t be shy… the winner could be you! Proceeds go to Nile general fund, and benefit of Nile Shriners, not tax deductible. The cruise date is August 28th through September 4th, 2015, and is a fixed date, it cannot be re-figured to a different date.

Golf Ball Drop: This is to benefit Shriners Hospital for Children and is tax deductible. Tickets are being sold for $5.00 each, and if you, as a Noble of the Shrine, want to help our hospitals by selling tickets, please contact the Nile office. Lets become an involved Shriner, it’s not always up to the “other guy”. We are looking to a great 2015, be a part of the fun and fraternal comradeship.

Our calendar the next three months is very busy. Our installation is Saturday January 10, 2015 with Zem-Zem 4:00 PM, Dinner 5:00 PM ($30 pp), installation 6:00 PM, and reception following in the Potentates lounge after.

Three weeks later Saturday January 31st is our Potentate’s Ball and is Formal with the theme “Stairway to Heaven”. Price for this is ($40 pp). Zem-Zem 5:00 PM, Dinner 6:00 PM, with Dancing to 10:00 PM. Tickets for the Installation and Potentate’s Ball are available for sale in the office. You can come in person or call on the phone to purchase your tickets.

February does not slow down. The 11th is a closed stated meeting with Noble Joe Korn, our golf pro, presenting a golf demo before our business meeting. The 14th, Valentine’s Day, is Oriental Bands annual “Crab Feed”. Finishing up the month is Nile’s “Unit/Club Seminar”. It is important that each club and unit has a representative to attend this meeting for great information to pass on to the rest of their clubs and units.

March starts off with our Nile Mexican Riviera Cruise on the 6th through the 14th out of San Diego. The 18th is an open dinner meeting with the Knights of Columbus and I know we will have a great time. Please attend a Shrine club meeting near you, and if you contact the Nile office, they can tell you when, where, and what time the club meets. Here is a list of Shrine Clubs: West Seattle SC (Burien), Renton SC (Renton), Olympic Peninsula SC (Sequim), Kitsap SC (Bremerton), Whidbey Island SC (Oak Harbor), Skagit SC (Mount Vernon), Northwest SC (Bellingham), and Eastside SC (Bellevue).

Looking forward to seeing you in our travels. Take care.

Yours in the Faith,

Illustrious Sir David M. Brady, Sr.
