Pote's Notes - Apr/May - 2019

Nobles,

A big “thank you” to those who were able to attend our 47th annual joint St. Patrick’s Day meeting with the Knights of Columbus. To those that were not able to attend you missed an evening filled with fun and fellowship. I enjoyed the young Irish dancers and especially enjoyed the fellowship with our KOC counterparts.

Next on the agenda is our Potentate’s Ball. Music is being provided by the band Stillpointe. The evening promises to be another fun-filled time.

By the time that this issue of Smile With Nile comes out our Oriental Guide and Assistant Rabin will have returned from training at Imperial in Tampa Bay. The lessons learned and ideas that come out of the training help all of us at Nile to make our Shrine better, and I am looking forward to hearing the new ideas that they will be bringing back with them.

Be sure and mark on your calendar for the April Foolz Car Show at Jeckyl and Hyde BBQ and Ale House in Bellingham on April 27th 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Live music, beer garden, raffles, food and more. The best part is proceeds from this event benefit the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals. They have made a generous donation each year to the hospitals and are looking to see many Shriners there again this year.

We are approaching parade season so get ready for the fun and fellowship that comes each summer as we participate in the Pote’s Call Parades. This is our chance to get out in several communities and show off our pride in being Shriners.

I am looking forward to seeing you at our April Closed Stated Meeting on the 10th where we will be voting on petitions for membership from several Masons. If you have a brother in your lodge who is interested in becoming a Shriner encourage him to get his petition in so that we can ballot on him. This will give him the opportunity to join us this summer in our parades and fun events.

Yours in the faith,

Steven L. Dazey
